Here are some of the animals that are permanent residents of Crooked Leg Ranch. We've listed what it costs to feed & care for each of these special animals a year. On going financial support is needed to assist with their care.  Please donate today!

Your donations make a difference!  We are a not-for-profit society, and can not issue tax receipts for donations.  If you require a tax receipt, please do not hesitate to contact us so we can direct you to another organisation requiring your help, that can issue receipts.

photo Emma - 6 year old Bavarian Hound, spayed and up to date on routine shots. She has some fear based issues and is doing very good overcoming them. Due to her emotional issues and some serious heart related health issues, Emma will be staying in sanctuary for the rest of her days. Emma's heart medications are very expensive, and sponsorship would help take the burden of the cost of her foster parents.
Humphrey - 9 year old Zebu steer, transferred to us in need to veterinary and hoof care in 2009.  Doing incredibly well at Crooked Leg Ranch, Humphrey will live out his days in retirement. Humphrey's feed & mineral cost for a year is $300. He also requires hoof trimming twice a year which is $40 each time.
Sea Biscuit - 10 year old Donkey gelding, came to us extremely foundered and had thrush in his hooves.  He has recovered, but is not adoptable due to special dietary needs and ongoing hoof care to maintain his level of soundness. Sea Biscuit's hay & minerals for a year is $300. Regular vet care including vaccinations is $150. Hoof trimming every two months is $40 each time.
Carmen - 5 year old Llama doe, was a breeding stock cull that was passed from home to home until she arrived at Crooked Leg Ranch. Carmen likes to forage so her hay & minerals for a year is $200. Shearing is $75 every second year.
Valentino - 5 year old Quarter Horse X gelding, came through auction in 2008.  Due to severe conformation issues (he is the original 'crooked leg' and one of the reasons that Crooked Leg Ranch Animal Rescue Society was formed), Val is a permanent resident.  Brought for $75, he would have likely been sent to slaughter without intervention. Valentino's hay & minerals for a year is $600. Regular vet care including vaccinations is $150. Hoof trimming every two months is $40 each time.

(Cheyanne when she was first brought to Crooked Leg Ranch)

Cheyanne - 13 year old Grade mare, was seized from a neglectful situation in 2006, where she was starved almost to death.  With hard work, good food and love, and huge amounts of veterinary care, she was brought back from the brink of death.  Due to her conformational issues (more crooked legs), she will spend the rest of her days as a companion to other recovering horses, at Crooked Leg Ranch.

Cheyanne's hay & minerals for a year is $600. Regular vet care including vaccinations is $150. Hoof trimming every two months is $40 each time.
